DAIELL TAPS T. EVAN FISHER
AS EDUCATION ADVISOR, ANNOUNCES
"TEXAS AFFORDABLE SCHOOL CHOICE" PLAN
(Houston) – Jeff Daiell, a candidate for the 2010 Libertarian nomination for Texas governor, has named T. Evan Fisher as the campaign's Education Advisor. He will be the first in a wide-ranging Board of Advisors. (click 'Read More')
Daiell also announced his plan for education reform in Texas. “I favor removing education from political control,” Daiell said. “There will not be enough support in the Legislature for that in the next few years, but conscience requires that we provide Texas parents, especially the least fortunate among us, with an alternative to the failings of the current system.” The plan would enable voucherless school choice for all Texas parents by implementing a system of tax deductions for primary education expenses.
Fisher, 29, a private educator, holds a Master's degree from Southern Methodist University and a Bachelor's degree from the University of Texas at Tyler. He is a former Dallas County Libertarian Party Chair who served alongside Daiell on the Libertarian Party of Texas' Executive Committee from 2005-08.
Fisher said, “This plan will help middle-class and lower-income parents that struggle to afford alternative education for their children and improve accountability in the public school system. Jeff Daiell is the right man for governor, not just because of his concern for the parents and children of Texas, but also because he understands that when schools compete for students, everyone wins.”
